Position Summary:
The Emergency After Hours (EAH) Worker reports to the On Call Supervisor and responds to all calls received by the Agency outside of normal office hours.  The EAH Worker is responsible for the provision of a broad range of child welfare services including intake, assessment, and clinical intervention with children and their families.  The EAH Worker is required to conduct investigations of abuse and neglect, offer crisis intervention services, provide emergency financial assistance, admit children to care, and ensure that all children are safe and protected, whether they are living in their own home or in the care of the Agency.

Knowledge and Skills Required:
  • Ability to  provide services in compliance with relevant legislation, ministry regulations and standards, and agency policies and procedures.
  • Ability to complete required documentation in accordance with prescribed agency, ministry and legal standards.
  • Knoweldgeable and skilled in delivering trauma informed services.
  • Ability to work under pressure and handle crisis situations. 
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Must be dedicated to ensuring the well-being of every child and youth.
  • Must maintain a positive attitude and foster helpful client relationships.
  • Skilled in the use of computers and database systems. Experience with CPIN an asset.

 Qualifications:          
  • Child Welfare Pathways to Authorization training is required.
  • 2-3 years of experience working in the field of child welfare.
  • Strong knowledge of the CYFSA and other relevant legislation.        
  • Crisis training, ASIST, First Aid, SOGIE preferred.

Required:
  • Must possess a valid Class G Ontario Driver's Licence and have access to a reliable vehicle with OPCF6A Insurance endorsement and minimum of $1000 000.00 Liability.
  • Satisfactory Vulnerable Sector check, Internal Records Check and Driver’s Abstract.
